Thus, the owner now has one and a half SUVs
Since its revival in 2021, the new Ford Bronco has become one of the best sellers in the market and the demand for an SUV has turned out to be so great that the American brand is unable to fully satisfy it – some customers are still waiting for the car they ordered. However, for Darin Spreadbury, there are no such problems, since he had two SUVs at his disposal at once – he turned one of his Broncos into a trailer on his own.
To get a scarce car, the American took advantage of his official position – as an employee of Roush Performance, he, along with Ford engineers, participated in the testing of pre-production Broncos at the Arizona test site. When the SUV was officially presented, the test copies were planned to be written off and disposed of, and Ford sold one of these SUVs to an engineer to turn it into a trailer.
The three-door Bronco was taken as the basis, the body of which was more suitable for such a transformation. In just six weeks, it was turned into a trailer. Visually, the trailer seems to be just a cut off part of the car, but in fact there are more alterations – it was equipped with its own frame with rubber cushions, the standard suspension and brakes were retained, but air springs were installed to adjust the ride height, a drawbar and the necessary fasteners were added.
The aluminum sheathed compartment provides space for two air compressors, tool mounts, and the tailgate retains the standard spare wheel mount. The regular fuel tank remained in the frame, in which Spreadbury carries an additional supply of fuel. The engineer uses the resulting Bronco trailer in conjunction with his five-door SUV.
