Renault Trucks will soon be able to count on a new structure. Named “Used Parts Factory” and based in Vénissieux (France), it will be responsible for dismantling the brand’s vehicles to allow certain parts to be put back into circulation.
How the Used Parts Factory works
Covering 3,000 m2, this plant will exclusively process trucks produced by Renault Trucks. Despite their sometimes high mileage, some components remain fully operational since they were designed to last more than 1.5 million kilometres. This is the case, for example, with certain elements of the engine and the gearbox, the cabin or even the bumper.
The extracted parts will then be cleaned, checked and referenced in order to integrate the spare parts store alongside the original components. Anything that could not be salvaged will be recycled, such as side rails that will be processed by a nearby foundry to obtain metal that will be used to build a new vehicle.
“Used Parts by Renault Trucks”: guaranteed spare parts
Once this process is complete, the reused parts will be marketed in the “Used Parts by Renault Trucks” range. Customers will be able to place an order via the manufacturer’s website dedicated to spare parts. Despite their attractive price (a sale price 50 to 60% lower than that of an equivalent new part), all these components will benefit from a guarantee.
The creation of the Used Parts Factory is an important step for Renault Trucks on the road to carbon neutrality. It will also make it possible to deal with the difficulties in supplying spare parts that the sector is currently experiencing.
